Founded in 2002 the Zillmere Multicultural Festival has become a cultural celebration of excellent proportions. We have grown from a mere 200 visitors to 10,000 attending last year, from the local community, surrounding suburbs, interstate and overseas. The Zillmere Multicultural Festival promotes the character, customs and rich cultural backgrounds of the Zillmere Community with a vibrant array of delicious foods, traditional and contemporary performances, as well as interactive songs and dances. We also provide plenty of workshops for people to get involved in.

Sharing cultures, music and skills gives visitors to the festival cultural insight and awareness by viewing and participating in a variety of diverse workshops and performances. It provides cultural groups, visitors and new Australians the opportunity to network with others and also a chance to share traditions with their younger generations.

The focus of the Festival is a ‘Village style’ concept with groups celebrating their culture with authentic village style stalls. They surround the festival with displays, demonstrations, and plenty of free activities. The local Zillmere community includes over 25 different cultures to celebrate; each with a story to tell and traditional food, arts and crafts to share with us all.

We feature over 40 stalls, and 50 live performance groups. There are free children's activities such as henna temporary tattooing, face painting and hair braiding. We feature free workshops for drumming, dance, basket weaving, maori poi making and much more.
