ZILLMERE MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL 2010

MANY CULTURES. PAST AND PRESENT

Saturday May 22nd  2010

10am -  4pm

O'Callaghan Park, Zillmere Rd, Zillmere

Now in its ninth year, the exciting celebration of cultures that is The Zillmere Multicultural Festival is on again at O'Callaghan Park, Saturday May 22nd (10 am - 4 pm). With its vibrant mix of delicious foods, traditional and contemporary performances across 3 stages (including song, dance and music workshops throughout the day), The Zillmere Multicultural Festival is now a firm favourite on the Brisbane events calendar. Over 10,000 people attended last years event.

The aim of The Zillmere Multicultural Festival is to promote and share the diversity and rich cultural backgrounds of the Zilmere community and its surrounding areas. Focus is placed upon interaction and experience in a free entry, family-friendly, one day only festival.   This year the event is being produced through an exciting new collaboration with Jabiru Community Youth and Children's Services Assoc. Inc and the Brisbane Multicultural Art Centre.

Attendees can expect beautifully themed village style food and craft stalls with many cultural groups exhibiting displays, workshops, crafts, demonstrations, song, dance and their traditional food. There are plenty of free activities and workshops for both children and adults alike, with local community groups and government agencies also providing information, displays and their own activities.

Performers this year will include artists as diversely as the  Zhiva Voda (Bulgarian), Tautoko Kapa Haka Group ( Maori), Asha Bollywood performers (India),  Zambia Cogo Australia (Capoeira),  Zenith, Juliettes and Vaydem (hip-hop dance crews), Spacifix (New Zealand), Impossible Odds (Australia), Muziz (Egyptian Belly-dancing) and much more.  In addition there will be a full workshop program in the PCYC, with Didge, hip-hop dance, bellydancing, Polynesian dance, african drumming and more...
